What is TAIAO?

The Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations (TAIAO) was formed in 2013 by a group of like-minded Six-Man football coaches that for various reasons did not “fit” in with existing football or athletic leagues in Texas.  For our first year we had 8 members.  In 2014 we expanded to 19 teams, separating in to two divisions so smaller organizations would not be at a competitive disadvantage.  We continued to grow and expect to have over 50 organizations for the 2022/2023 school year.
We offer Six Man Football, Girls and Boys Basketball, Volleyball. Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Cross Country, Track and Field, Golf, Wrestling and Powerlifting.  We will have our first Academic meet in the spring of 2020.
We feel we have a great offering for all types of organizations, Private Schools, Charter Schools, Home School Organizations and Public Schools.  We currently have organizations in all of the major metropolitan areas of Texas:  Houston, Dallas Metroplex, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso,  as well as many areas in between.
We believe that we have the start of something that will continue to grow and to last.  The organization is ‘run by the members’ with nobody’s input being ignored.  The leadership and member organizations commit to always remember that it is “about the kids”, and do everything we can to keep the adults ego’s out of the equation when decisions are being made.
